Late May Early June 2010 Kingfish Photo Gallery and Report
Pics from the decks of Epic and Sanity through late May, early June, livebaiting and jigging the Aldermen Is, Mercs, Whitianga, Tairua, Coromandel Peninsula
Jeff Cheok organised a trip for his mates aboard Sanity out of Whitianga and his mate Derek Chow got into the first couple of whoppers of the day.

Plenty of fish on jigs but the livies doing the damage on the bigger fish.

Jeff nailed the fish of the day, again on a livie

And a few on jigs as well

In the afternoon Tobes took the fella's back into the Mercury Bay for some fun on the softbait rods around the bait schools

Plenty of fun sized kingfish on the light gear

Jason hooked up to a nice king in the shallows

Synit Hellbent with a hell bend and Stella 4000 howling, Derek attachd to a Mercury Bay kingi in the shallows

A pretty choice way to wrap up a pretty choice day.

The sun dawns over the Aldies on a very pleasant Sunday morning and Jono Lynch and team were amping to knock some kingfish over

Sunday Bloody Sunday! Jono himself with one destined for the smoker!

Mike with a fat fish from the G Spot, caught on a Blue Spike jig

Chris travelled all the way from Syndey to join the boys on the trip and found out how hard the New Zealand kingfish pull!!

The G Spot was on fire, another for Jono on the jig

Chris struggling to hold this one up, resting on the side of the boat, a fat fish of about 19kgs

Day two and Josh from Smart Marine joined the boys, we headed straight to the G Spot and the snappers were nailing our livies left right and centre

Not to mention a few nice kingis

A bit further afield, Jono got himself a new PB kingi

Mike hits th 20kg mark

And continues to nail a long line of fish on the jigs, Jig Star 350 and OJ 4000P getting a good work out and Mike never stopped going hard

Tail end of Day Two, and more snaps and a flurry of kingfish to wrap up a couple of awsom days for the fellas

A jigging day on Sanity and the two Rob's Robbie Edwards and Robrt Dunkley getting stuck into some nice kingfish on jigs

Blair with a nice fish on the jig as well to wrap the day up

Kevin, Lance, John and Pete came in search of some snapper and kingfish. the livie tank was loaded and the G Spot was the destination, Pete with a nice fat king that smashd up a livie

And another

John getting dealt to by a nice fish on the Xzoga

A new way to catch snapper - the lassoo rig!

Jonathan Hare and Damon Coldicutt brought out their two young fellas to tackle with some kingfish, Jacob Coldicutt is all of ten years old but lined up the first livie to be hooked up "can I have it please", he dropped it quick as a flash to 40m and within 30 seconds had a freight train of a kingfish on his hands, Tica Magnum rod doubled over, Talica up past strike and he did an awesome job of getting it to the boat

Jonathan was jigging and hooked here into a nice fish on his Smiths and Expedition, Jigging Master rocket 300gm pink doing the damage

Now after nailing a trophy fish early in the day a lot of grown adults have been known to retire and have a snapper fish, but not Jacob, "can I have a jig please" JM 300 and Daiwa Z40 in his hands and he went hard for the rest of the day. Another nice fish for the young fella! This one tagged for releasing

And about ten kingfish later, Dad Damon helps him hold up the last fish on the day

Annan Song and the boys from Express Data and Oracle were out for a bit of team building, with two boats we can put on a pretty good corporate day and Annan put up a few good prizes to add to the rivalry on the day. Annan with a nice fish to kick off proceedings, on a pink spike at the G Spot

JM400 and Stella 20000SW howling on a nice kingfish at the Supermarket

Bit further out at the Par Five and the lads were into a triple, doing the Aldermen tango to stop getting tangled, all held together.......

A nice trio of fish for the fellas

Biggest of the three on a livie

And a nice fattie on the jig

Plenty of snapper amongst the kingfish too

The other four fellas on Sanity were hooking into them most drops as well

Jesse Harris with a solid kingfish about to be released after being tagged on Sanity

And putting the time in with the dropper rigs paid off with a nice tasty hapuku!

Ed and Paul Watson braving the conditions and hooked into a double of kingfish on jigs

Stella and 200gm rocket for Ed

Broken Arrow 500gm and Jig Star 350/OJ 4000P for Paul
