Local Lad Karl Atwell is often at the Tairua wharf checking out our catch of the day and convinced his Mum he should come out with us for his 11th birthday.  Karl braved a snotty south easter for the trip out and hooked into this huge kingi on a 250 gm pencil jig and 100 weight rod.

If that wasn't enough, he dealt to a 17 pound snapper on a 7" Vader softbait - well done Karl!!

Matt Gubbins from the same trip got a 19 pound snapper on a Cajun Gulp bait.

Ricky Mossman was out with and last year and was back again this Nov for more epic fishing action, since last year he has invested in some mean jigging kit, here he is hooked up on his Xzoga and Stella 20000.

Can't beat a Nuclear Chicken softbait in the shallows, this snapper got pulled out of 6m of water and there were a few nervous moments as he dragged through the kelp but Tony did real well and landed and awesome Aldermen Island snapper!

Graham McKenzie aka Boulder has been down a few times and brought a crew of customers from his online tackle shop each time, here is one of the lads from Tauranga and the first kingi of the day from Tuesdays trip.

And the Jigging Master fish of the day cap went to Phillip Clark for this awesome fish on a 100 weight JM rod, mean fight!.
