Two Day Kingfish Trip - A Gallery of Sam Tee's Epic Adventure

Sam Tee won a two day fishing trip with us, taking out the top prize when he competed on the TV series Jack of All Trades

Together with friends and family he spent two days in Tairua with us knocking off a few big kingfish and putting some of our latest jigging and livebaiting gear to the test!

And a solid king falls to that combo, jig was a Centre weighted YeeHaa jig in Chartreuse

A solid kingfish about 16kg, this time caught on our new Saragosa 18000 and Shimano Jig XR 400 Spin, YeeHaa pencil jig

Sam also got to christen our new Tica Magnum Livebait rod with a Kilwell Bent Butt, a jack mackeral we had caught for livebait that morning got hammered by a huge fish that had the Tyrnos 30 howling.  Check out the bend on the rod, the light action of the tipp assists with the hook up on the livebait rather than having to feed the bait back to the fish it can be fished in full drag, the base of the rod has awesome grunt and the bent butt prevents any high sticking and also helps to keep the line await from the boat when it is fished in the holder.

The result - biggest fish of the trip and a new Personal Best for Sam at 20kg - awesome!!

Time to take on some small opponents, Sam with a nice snapper taken on a Catch Pink Piper softbait rigged on a Jig Star swivel head

Sam's Mrs Selina got stuck into some good sized kingis as well, this was the first fish of the trip on Day one, on the Saragosa 8000

And this one a beaut fish on the Ocea Jigger 4000p and Jigging Master 300

And his mates got stuck into plenty of good kingfish two, this was the best from Day one

And a close second on Day Two

The livebait rod gets some more action, just love the bend in the rod here, a slightly concerned look but all holds together!!

And a few nice snapper at the Aldies on softbaits (this one on a 4" Swimming Mullet Gulp) round out an awesome few days fishing out of Tairua!!
