JIGGING AND SOFTBAITING GALLERY FOR MARIO AND HIS FISHING MATES' EPIC ADVENTURE FISHING IN NEW ZEALAND!
Mario, Allan, Rob and Marinco joined us this week in Tairua for a week of non stop fishing action!
They were amping to beat their kingfish and snapper Personal Bests. When they arrived we rigged up all their gear with PR knots and replaced leaders to 150lb as there were some monsters out there. It paid off and over the first three days we blew all their PB's out of the water, with kingfish to 30kgs, as well as some very nice snapper on softbaits
These are just a handful of the pics of the 70 plus kingfish the guys have caught and released on jigs and nice line of snapper at the end of each day as well which got taken home for dinner.
All on spin jig gear too!

Rob with the first kingfish of the trip - a very respectable 18kg at that!

Mario hooked up on his Jiwrex 400 and Stella 20000 and luvin it!! Broken Arrow style jig

Make that a double, Marinco in as well!!

Two from a triple hook up

Marinco pretty stoked with his one around 17kg

Then into something a bit bigger.....Saltiga rod and reel maxed out!!!!!

Day three was WILD - wild weather and wild fishing, gotta love the big Stabi Hard Top in seas like this, Mario hooked up to a monster that peeled line off the Stella at full drag, Smiths AMJ52, what a rod!

Estimated 20kg, on a Broken Arrow copy in pink

Marinco stoked with the fish of the trip so far, estimated 30kg and nearly as wide as the boat!!

Some more primo snapper on the Nuclear Chicken 7" Gulp, note the sharp teeth on this male fish, and a nice line of fish pushed out of the deep, top eaters....

And another, again, check out the teeth, hasn't been in the kelp for long!

Day four and Rob has his eye in today and picked up the biggest kings of day four, loaded up on his Smiths spin stick first

Another nice fish, bout 16kg

Allan with his last king from the epic four days of kingi action, est 17kg

Rob with another nice fat Tairua kingfish, est 18kg - THAT jig again!!

Marinco sticking it to one in close to the Aldies

And a few nice snapper on softbaits to finish the fishing trip off - a very nice snapper on a Nuclear Chicken - what else!!

And another nice snap on the same softbait to wrap the trip up - AWESOME FEW DAYS FELLAS!

The fellas came around for a big feed of snapper, kingfish and a few drinks on the last night. We had a look at the raw video footage from the trip, and it was pretty surreal looking back on some of the action from Day one and Day Three. A couple of very special days packed into this trip we'll already remember for a long time!!
