THREE GREAT DAYS OF JIGGING AND SOFTBAIT FISHING OUT OF TAIRUA, WITH EPIC ADVENTURES

First up was Katie Kilgour and mates, Corey hooking into the first fish of the trip, on a pink KV slider jig

James is in New Zealand from the UK, and stoked with his first New Zealand kingfish, and best fish ever!

Corey with another nice kingfish

Lisa hooked a nice trevally on a jig!

A bunch of Orca came cruising on by, the only shots I could get were at this distance, every time I put my camera down they would appear right under the boat eyeballing us and mocking me that I didn't have a camera.  It was awesome to see these huge creatures right up close and personal

Corey nails a 15kg fish that we released to fight another day

Katie jigged her hear out all day, and was rewarded on our last drift when the Saragosa 8000 and custom YeeHaa rod howled on the fish of the day.  She did an awesome job holding on and getting the fish under control, the the hard yards of lifting it up began

And an awesome result - 17kgs of 100% pure fat New Zealand kingfish!!!

Rod: Kilwell 300 blank spin rod, fitted out at YeeHaa with a Saragosa 8000 reel, 250gm YeeHaa pencil jig and Decoy 10/0 game jig hook

Mark Etheridge and mates were out with us bright and early the next morning, daylight saving and all, and the Jigging Master 300 got hammered first up, Kilwell Broken Arrow , 400gm orange jig

Nice way to start the day off

Another nice kingfish followed

And a couple more too before we started looking for some snapper, with a bit of success too....7" Gulp Sardine doing the trick on a jigstar swivel head and Mustad worm hook

Another nice fish on Pearl Gulp, 13 pound snapper - choice!!

This one on a 4" Camo Mullet

Same bait, different fish!!!

Tuesday this time, and THAT rod seems to be hitting its straps now, we have worked out what jigs it likes :-)

And a nice fat kingish is the result

YEP, that rod and reel again, outfishing all the other big guns......

And a nice fish for the smoker

This one went 18kg on the boat scales, fish of the day

And one last one to round the day off.....
