Fishing Charter Gallery Tairua/Pauanui and Alderman Islands July 8,9 and 10

A quick fish on Wednesday afternoon for Whangamata holidaymakers Tasha and Andy netted some very respectable snapper straylining in close to Pauanui Point.  Fresh kahawai secured for bait, a big burley trail of mussels, kina and tuna and every freespooled bait was nailed as they sunk below the water - awesome fun!!

Out Thursday morning for a full day charter, jigging rods ready, and a full moon setting before full tide, all the ingredients for a hot kingi bite

And Brian Andrayo from the USa who had chartered the boat for himself had all the action to himself, one kingi after another, this one on the Stella reel and Smiths rod.

Brian fishes for broadbill swordfish and yellowfin tuna back home, but reckons these kingis but up an awesome scrap!!

And after releasing a dozen or so kingis this one ended up as some sashimi and macadamia crumbed kingfish on the BBQ

Friday morning and first drop on Spot X Brad blooded his new rod with a very nice fish on his Offshore 200 rod and Tini 40N

The water temperature is down to 14 degrees down (brrrrr...) and with it there are some strange creatures hitting the jigs, this one a red cod

And hitting the softies too (a slender tuna is a very rare catch here), we used it for bait later on but they make for very nice eating......

Woooahhh, this is what we were waiting for, first drop back at another spot and Tim's Stella started screaming - big fish on the Smiths rod

Yeah, that is what we are talking about!!  20kg of prime Aldermen Islands kingfish!!  Tim was adamant it was to be released back into the ocean after a photo - choice one Tim!!!

And a bit of Slender tuna (maybe we should have eaten it!) out for bait brings in a few snapper (and this one took a Pink Shine 7" Gulp) caught by Errol
