Snapped Rods, Kingi Carnage and Holiday Fishing Heaven!!
Labour Weekend and the week that follows can sometimes be a hard time for fishing with plenty of boats whizzing around scaring the fish away, but we got into a long line of awesome fishing action over the last week with quadruple hook ups the norm, and a great mix of action, happy clients and big smiles all round.
We had extreme white water kayaker Ben Brown and friends and family out for some epic kingi action, not quite as extreme as what Ben does for a living but the arms still got a work out! Ben hooked up on the JigWrex100

and a sweet kingi on the light gear, all the fish these guys caught were released to catch again on their next trip out!

Another horse of a kingi

And this one about to go back in the drink too

Stu slays one on the new Pflueger reel from Pure Fishing, loaded with Code Red 80lb braid, too easy!

Ben deals to one on the Shimano JigXR and Saragosa 18000

An awesome fish pushing round 19 k's

A triple hook up about to go back

And a sweet snapper of a softie to finish the day up! Gulp swimming mullet in chartreuse does the damage on the dark day...

Clint and mates came about to break in their new jigging gears with us over Labour weekend and hit some hot action

Clint's first one for the day

Another first on the jig

Smiths rod loaded and Stella screaming!!

Not bad for his first kingi!!

Fish of the day was this 20kg beast, a big of braid burn healing up, we let him fight another day too....

New Stella 10000 well blooded now and getting another workout

And another awesome fish released boatside

"Want one more drop before we go home guys?" - what a way to finish....

See ya next time!!

Well that was two days where jigs where going off their nana's the next two the livies produced the goods.....
Rob Weatherburn hooked up to a kingi on a live slimey

A nice way to ease into the morning

The next one decided to give Rob a bit more stick!!

We were testing out the new Berkley 130lb Flurocarbon and it produced the bites right through the day and no bustoffs

Rob's wife Jude got stuck into the next one...

An awesome kingi of about 16kg about to go back

A nice slimey taken on half a slimey head, rigged on a worm hook and Cyclops head

Jude with another nice kingi

Another slimey head gets demo'd!

Slow trolling some livies through the Aldies

Rapt with the last kingi of the day!

Local Tairua gardener Dion Wills hooks into a stonker of a kingi on a livie!

Awesome stuff Dion!!!

Dion's Dad Mike with a nice kingi too

Yvonne with a real nice Labour weekend snapper

Mike with another kingi, this time on the jig

And a bit of bribing the skipper as to who's is bigger???

John Malcolm on the same trip with a nice jig caught kingi on the Saragosa 8000 and pencil jig

This was a mixed trip of guys who met each other for the first time, and it will be a day they never forget with some insane kingi action, Ian Gullock from Ozzie hooks into the first on the JM300

Michael Lowyim hooks into his first ever kingi at the same time on the Smiths

And Brendon Deacon makes it a triple on his own JM450 and Torsa

Ian with his fish, about to be released

Deacs with his first of many for the day

And Michael with a solid first ever kingi which got donged on the head of course!!

Deacs muscles into another on the 450

There was no stopping Ian.....

And another on the JM about to be released
Michael deals to another fish, some days the Smiths rod just seems to attract the biggies....

Like this MUTHA of a fish - about to be released over 20kg - not bad for Michael's first kingi mission!!

Ian with another

Lee hooks into something SERIOUS!!! Time to give this Pfleuger a reel work out and dial the drag up - YEP heaps of drag, smooth as, wonder what will happen to the rod though.....

Best we find a strong rod to put it on!!!

Lee nails the next one, but the one that got away will always be twice as big!!

Deacs with another horse of a kingi - 20kg and released

Michael releasing one while Ian is loaded up again

The call of the week "one more drift fellas - go hard!" - One on, Two on, Three On - FOUR ON!!

Curved slider for Deacs

Michael with his last of the day

And on the last trip for the week, the livies did the damage - this one 17kg

This fattie on a jig

And a SWEET way to round the week off - a tasty puka!!
