Late October 2011 Kingfish Trips

Hot kingi action in the last week of October

After a weeks break spending some quality time with the family in Fiji and a spot of diving over there, it was back into the mad kingi action. It was almost like the tropics back here in NZ with flat seas and the fish were playing ball too.  First drift and seconds into it the boys were on to a double.  John Topping joined the crew and straight off the bat he was into a fat Aldies kingfish on a blue broken arrow jig

Casey Adamson was up from Wellington for two days of kingi action and his first fish was in the mid twenty kilo's - on a blue broken arrow jig

That man John was in again on the JM350 and jig

This one going over the 20k mark as well

Another double for the fellas!

TWAS a wild morning first day back for sure...Casey into another quality fish

Casey's old man was into them as well on the baits

Johhny Tran was over from Sydney taking some casual spots over three days.  We had a big boil up and a popper on 4kg produced this very nice kingi on light gear - well done bro great effort!

With the kingfish feasting up on squid at the moment there are a fair few with cookie cutter bites on them, another fat afternoon fish

We snuck down to the G Spot and John was into another on the PE5

A good bite at the G Spot on the way home rounding off a pretty choice day back at the office

Next morning and Johhny was out again, this time with a good mate, Johnny into a nice one on his PE4 and JM2003kings on a jig

Choice fish Johnny

Nice double for the boys

NIce fat tagged fish on a livie

Woah...look at it go/////

Johnny joins the 20K club

The big fish kept on coming on the livies

Another fat fish for Johhny

Luke and mate joined in the fun

Luke pretty rapt to be amongst the action again

Yeah bro!  This fish had Luke in all sorts of trouble - late 20kgs, estimate 27kg, about to be released

It's that time of year......someone getting excited

Kingi trying to get it on with the jig....

The Rixon and Cassidy crew came to get amongst the action and the kings were still biting hard

Another cracker mid to late 20K fish about to be released

Doubles of quality fish on livies and jigs

Plenty of quality fosh round the 20k mark scoffing jigs

A little bit of humour at the end of the day I snuck out a whole squid on the softbait gear.  Plenty of kings had been regurgitating squid as they came up to the surface so a bit of strylined squid drifting along with a bit of swell to make it look real, and whammo....

A pretty epic fight on the 4kg over reef the whole time and a very nice king was the result

Boz, Deacs and the boys were out for some more epic action, Deacs had timed the trip to coincice with his PB from last year and an insane bit we had, the kings sure played ball first thing, first kingfish for this angler and went over the 20k mark

Boz stoked to be amongst the kingi carnage once again

Another newbie about to be blooded

Kings were hitting hard and fast in the morning

Boz with one on the lucky scuffed up pencl jig

Another double for the newbies, now well and truly hitting their straps

We snuck down to the G Spot for the afternoon and Deacs who had let the other boys have the line share of the action in the morning was rewarded with a new PB round 22kg on a Turkey Slider jig, from a quadruple hook up.  Plenty of triples, doubles and more quality kings before the boys went home with very tired arms and two new jigging converts....

What a week!
