*Mike, Hayley and Pete had three days in New Zealand to fish with us.  The weather was not going to be kind for days 2 and 3 so we packed a huge day in from dawn til dusk to make sure they got all the fishing action they needed! 

This was the result of the first drop with the jigs ....both Pete and Mike getting their arms stretched on some great Tairua kingis

Both Mike and Pete were fishing their own custom made rods, and they were getting tested out to the max!

Meanwhile after nearly being dragged overboard on his Expedition at full drag, Pete puts a 20kg kingfish in the boat!!  This was the best fish of the day and caught on a very inventive rig, a Sluggo on a work hook, with two metres of trace and jig below.  The kingi beat the jig to the Sluggo!!!

Mike once again tackles a nice fish, this time trying out our Smiths Rod, 400gm Purple curved slider jig

After eight hours of non stop jigging we spent three hours softbaiting the infamous 'Shark Alley' at the Alides - one of our favourite softbaiting spots.  Mike was getting hit on most baits, and a nice line of snapper came aboard, this one destined for the guys dinner and a few beers tonight!!  Gulp 7" BBQ chicken the hot bait.  One action packed day of New Zealand fishing right there!
