Alderman Islands and Coastal Fishing Charter Report.  Epic Adventures, Tairua.

For the week end Sunday 23 August 2009

We've just come off a good week of fishing.  In close there are loads of nice big trevally which are great fun on the light tackle or salt water fly.  Out wide you have to work at the kings but there are some good fish to be had if you stick with it.  The snapper are about as well on most of the reefs, from the shallows to the deep and we've picked up some good sized fish this week.  Enjoy the photos!

Pablo Casado from France gets the week off to a good start, hooked into his first New Zealand kingfish on his Smiths 280 spiral wrap and Accurate reel.

Tony McKenzie with a nice kingi caught jigging on his own Stella 20000 and T Curve spin stick.

Bruce Southwood with a 17lb snapper caught on a 400gm black Magic jig, out on the mud on some good sign we ran over!  Amazing what you turn up out there. Hooked on our Ocea Jigger and JM 300.  Actually put up a good scrap on 24kg braid.....and pulled a bit of string! Bruce was a happy chappy!!

The next day we had the good folk from Daiwa out with us testing some of the latest tackle.  Grant Blair (aka Grunta) hooked up first on the new Daiwa Extreme jigging combo

Pat from Team Daiwa with a solid king taken on his Saltist30

John Elliot hooked on on his Saltiga30, with the hot jig of the day, a Broken Arrow 300gm

One for sashimi

Pat decided to slip over a Daiwa Pirate slow jig in blue and a wee bit of a slow jiggle and WHAM....nice snapper peeling line off the light softbait rod

Dave gets the next days crew off top a good start on the Par Five

The light 100weight JigWrex with a 250gm Blue KV jig was getting all the attention today, Tony Weston hooked up on a nice kingi on the light jigging rod

Make that a double

Dino cranks the first of the double up on the Ocea Jigger helped along by a few Mother energy drinks!!

And Tony with a nice fish on the 100

Grrrrrrrr......Stick to the offshore 'Seamounts' fellas and leave the close reefs to the recreational anglers.......

Dino with the fish of the day, Ocea Jigger 4000P, Jigging Master 300 and Zest Curved Slider in Purple 400gm

Same jig, same rod, same reel, different day!!!! Yutaro starts the day with a solid king of 18kg

Jordan with a nice one, same jig, same reel, same rod

Regular fisho Sam Stringfield gets one  too, on the Stella/Smiths

And Sam finishes the week off with a real nice kelpie snapper caught straylining inside the Aldermen Islands on some good old fashioned skipjack tuna!!!
