August Kingfish Charters, Epic and Sanity

Report from Toby

Wickedly cold this morning but as always a frost will signal a flat calm day and the run to the bait had the boys rugged up.  I fired up Epic and hunted down some bait north of Tairua at Sailors

Neville got this little puppy in the morning at Sailors

out on the pin Neville continues his good run

Ross is new to kings and loved the fight

and his buddy Jon gets a great fish in the late teens

Warmer start the next day and the massive school of mackerel was still sitting where i left it yesterday but the welcome visit of some much larger kings taking the free swimming live baits. Even a 3kg snapper picked off live bait and is destined for the smoker.

Mal nailed a bauty in the caratax and twin power around the bait schools

Les was new to kings and wasnt dissapointed with the fight they give

Fish of the day in the avo for Mark on the PE5

I was almost going to cancel todays trip on the forecast and the crew got a welcome bonus as the forcasters got it slightly wrong! Karm from fishing.net and his boys were out for a day on Epic. Livies were very slow at the dairy and a quick move to pumpkin prove a good call with massive bait schools getting rounded up by kingies. A nice king to Sean and then out for double time

First double for the day for Mark and Sean

why not another then lads?

A nice fish for Ian

and Mark gets his first legal kingi

Matt grabs one for the smoker

and Sean nails the fish of the day

time for a snack?...fresh raw kingfish dipped in wasabi and soy...it was delicious!!!

Ray and Robbie were back for there second trip on sanity and bought two of their mates - many fish caught and many released over the two days. The boys were oretty onto it with fish handling and release most of the fish at the side of the boat.

Ray and Robbie set to work

Naz loves the power of these fish

Ray persists with the jig and gets rewarded

and another...thanks guys great fishing with you again, hope to see ya back in summer!!

Next up on Sanity two guys and two gals made the trip from Singapore to spend three days playing with the kings

Jamie kicks his trip off in fine style

and a late teens king tests his stamina

nice Jamie....lvoe ya work

Nigel got his share of nice fish

and the camera shy ladies got busy saving a bunch of braid

thanks team...see you in march!

Another glorious day on Epic - bait everywhere - fish everywhere...too much so the boys set to work. Brad from De Coro Fishing tackle in Tauranga brought out a bunch of keen fellas today

Brad gets the ball rolling

Dan gets a taster

Nice double for the lads

late teens king for Matt

and aussie Mick makes one stick

lets finish things with a bag then....triple time!!

top day with some top blokes...thanks guys

Russ was back for another taster and we pointed the nose of Epic for the Mercs - the boys werent dissapointed, a few quick piccies from the day

A nice double to start things rolling

Mark nabs a new pb

and so does Nigel!!

Russ takes a great pic...nice work!

Next up, Swanie was bak with a load of keen fishos from tauranga firefighters. Epic was loaded to the hilt with bods and went out in search of some kings. A nice day on the water with plenty of fish for everyone, two triples to start things - got the day off to a pretty good start!.

Heaps of room on epic for three side by side

Dunnie with a beauty

cheers lads...awsome to fish with guys again

Next morning and the good weather greated us and the maccies were almost jumping in the bait tank. Tom and dave were over from aus and joined Don and Frank. Fortunatly Don bought a rail rod to use so he coud be comfortable in the lazy boy position...and boy was it effective!

Dave was super stoked with his first fish getting a good work out on the MC Works

Old Don was loving Epics luxurious features...

The sneaky fella suck this one out from under the boat

A nice double

and another

First time Frank was loving the power of these fish

Tom strikes a pose

Nice fish Tom

A great day had by all with good numbers of fish for everyone. Don's allready booking his next trip!

You couln't get a better day on the water!..It was just superb. Whitianga turned it on this morning with acres of jacks, pillies and slimies making bait gathering easy work for the lads...and the shags and gannets, the bay was alive!
Back at the helm of sanity she cruised out at 23knts to the pins and in time the first baits were going down to be greeted by hungry kings!

Dean gets the ball rolling with a great scrapping king

Doubles were common

Paul set the standard today nailing 3 very big kings on the JMPE5 and JM Sniper

Even triples for the lads

another triple...kepping the kingfish boatside in the water until all three are at the boat means less time out of water

all in all...one outa the bag!
