Big Winter Albacore Amongst the Kingfish!
Report from Toby
Tom and Jeff were back keen on bringing some kingi newbies to feel the power of the kings. First mission was to gather livies in the bay and the big ones were defently scarce so we waded thru acres of small ones to get a tank full of better fish. There was a little distraction or two on the way!!
Tim was the first up on the Team Yeehaa softbait rod nailing a very nice king on 20lb trace, another good fish was lost just outside netting range when the light leader parted.

Tom found the jig fishing rewarding with this sold fish

Rick scored on a live bait

After a number of fish the gannets started looking like they were up to a bit of mischeif and with no dolphins present it was only tuna or kings keeping the bait fish up near the surface. I fanged over there and found some sign under the meat ball. Hooked up on jigs, but big fish, line was dissapearing quickly of the reels and screeming all over the ocean - big kings i thought and was pleasently surprised to find a big albacore pop up next to the boat!!
Ricks fish went 18kg

and Dave got the bigger of the pair with a solid 23kg fish...well done lads, see ya in April.
