A day of Monster Kingfish on Epic Adventures!!
This was Craig and his mate's first jigging trip with us. For most of the guys it was their first time jigging and they used a mix of their new gear and some of our specialist jigging gear we have on the boat. We spent a lot of the time on the way out rigging stuff up and talking through playing the fish, in the event there were some monsters out there. It was worth it, as the day turned out to be a cracker and the guys landed 100% of the fish without any bust offs. And we had fish up to 30kg with some of them being played on very light tackle. Awesome stuff guys - a pleasure to fish with ya!
We warmed up on a nice line of fish for the bin, nice fish in the 12-14kg range, Keith was up first

A solid fish in anyone's book on his Monster Mesh and Daiwa Saltist

Eddie was in next with another nice solid eater, and his first ever kingi
Once he had his jigging ryhthm down pat he was hard to stop - OJ and JM300 getting a workout!!

And another nice fish.

Last one for the bin, everything from here on in was released to fight another day!!!

Keith sticking it to a very nice fish

A sweet kingi from the deep

Craig was into his first one on the Jigging Master

And Craig's first kingfish for the trip about to be released

And he gets his eye in with another nice kingfish again released

Righto, time to find some lunkers!!! Keith getting into something a little more substantial round the 20kg mark

Things hotting up, Craig pulled to the rail on his Daiwa Monster Mesh

In the meantime Eddie with a fish of around 22kg, about to be released

Stella being put to the test!!! This is a big fish, Stella was wound up and howling!!

And a BEAST of a fish comes to the boat, DEEP - easily 30kg

And from another angle - LONG!!!! "Can I put it down now???" Well done bro!!!

Craig with another one round 19kg, quick photo before release

Secret hint to those scouring the website for a few idea, turning the big fellas on was helped by a bit of the good bloody stuff......

Double hook up on some hard fighting Tairua kingfish, whats on the other rods ;-)

Keith with a best round 24kg, hook up in progress behind - CHAOS!!! Fish was released

Craig releasing one boatside quickly

Eddie hooked up again - "arms are getting sore now!!"

Time for some fun, 125gm Grim Reaper is cast out on 8kg sofbait rod........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.........

In the meantime, Craig is hooked up

Softbait rod is getting peeled.....

First of the treble is landed for Eddie, about to be released

Craig lands his.....again released

Yep, that kingi is still going on the softbait rod, another 30m of line lost, time to use the boat to get some line back ,we rocked back and forward with the boat and slowly raised it up

45minutes later, 19kg kingfish on 8kg line STOKED!!!! What an effort, everything held together!! Twin Power reel smooth as too!!!

OK, time to deal to some more on the heavy stuff!!! The guys had waited out for some more action!!! Our JM and OJ again tested to the limit!!!

We have a jigging convert!!! Another kingi released boatside!!

Craig stoked and loving it - Saltist dialled to full and a little thumb pressure required on this reel.......

Keith with a 20kg fish, about to be released

And Craig rounds off a pretty insane kingfish session in anyone's book!!!

Time to rest the arms with some snapper snooping.........

Jig Star head, Owner worm hook and 7" chartreuse Gulp bait , very nice snapper.......
