Hi Everyone!
We're just about to come to the end of an EPIC year!
A huge thanks to everyone who has been a part of it and helped make it the best yet! There's been plenty of milestones....marlin on jig rods, a Blue on 15kg in the Nationals, 100 kingfish days, Tobez joining the team, Sanity joining the Epic fleet, our first Ozzie TV footage and filming with the JM and Daiwa guys.
But the biggest buzz over the year as always has been seeing the smiling faces day in day out as people have fun on the water and in a lot of cases achieve something new for themselves. Its been a blast! The last three months have seen plenty of that with some huge kingfish, plenty of new PB's for lots of anglers and some awesome surface action. You'll find plenty of pics and stories from the last few months action in this newsletter.
Also in this newsletter is the latest developments on our new Senator RH750 custom sports fishing boat which will be in the water early next year.
This week we knock off another milestone, and that is five years in the fishing charter game. Yep, 22 Dec marks five years since we did our first charter.
We'll be having a few beers in Tairua this Wednesday 22nd Dec from 1pm - 5pm,to say thanks to those who've helped to make it happen - if you can make it down for the afternoon let us know and we'll send you finer details, otherwise we'll try and catch up in the New Year.
Have a safe and fishy Xmas and New Years!
Enjoy the read
All the best

When we sent out our last newsletter we were in the middle of an awesome bite of big kingfish with plenty of 20-30kg++ models and that trend certainly carried on for the last three months.
Anthony Dimech now lays claim to the biggest fish weighed off Epic with a 36.5kg fish caught on a Broken Arrow jig, (pic opposite). Booking a whole week certainly paid off for the guys as their first two days were spent on shore, but when the weather came right the fish bit hard and the guys all came away with new personal best kingfish and some big fish also landed on poppers on 6kg braid. More on that trip here
The big fish carried on through November with the two other fish pictured opposite both taken on livebaits, Deano on Sanity and Andrew on Epic both with fish well into the 30kg's. Check out the quality of fish we're talking about from that week here Pete nailed a new PB for himself recently (well actually it was his first ever kingi!! what a way to start!) and a new boat record for weighed fish on Sanity at 32kg, see pic below
There is not much that will compare to a 30kg+ kingfish hell bent on finding the reef below, and I'll be the first to admit walking away with my hands shaking after helping someone thumb down on the reel ! The adrenaline on board after someone has just landed one of these monsters is something else.
If tangling with some of these monsters is something you want to do in 2010 then get in touch and start planning your trip now. Check out our calendar for some dates here

As most of you will know, we're building a replacement boat for Epic and its nearly out of the Senator factory, with the fitout being done here on the Coromandel in early January and she should be ready to fish out of very soon.
Senator have done an awesome job custom building it for how we fish and we look forward to getting you out on the new rig next year. There are plenty of exciting features including a transom devoted to livebait tanks, something like 40 odd rod holders, a popper and stickbait casting platform, underfloor fishholds, and more....
If you haven't checked it out already we have a diary of the boat build up here

The tail end of spring, summer and autumn produce some pretty special surface action and we've sure had some fun over the last couple of months. At times we were sight casting poppers to 20-30kg kingfish tailing on the surface .... and in 100m of water we nailed a few in that category on some very light braid gear. After devouring poppers behind the boat, some of those fish still managed to peel off 120m of braid in a few seconds......just awesome fishing!!!!
Surface trolled livies have been devoured within sight of the boat leaving huge gaping holes in the water, screaming reels and trembling anglers! And for the last few weeks blind casting stickbaits (cheers to YeeHaa for kitting us out with some cool new casting gear - Shimano Caranx Kaibutsu and Twin Power plus some cool new stickbaits) has been raising plenty of fish, both in the shallows and out wide. The photos tell the story....... |

If you're looking for a new way to cooking your kingfish you can't beat it on kebabs, cubed in between some veges - it stays nice and moist on the BBQ. We've loaded a new recipe on our kingi recipes page here. |

Carl and Tobez jointly won the Best Charter skipper award for 2010 from the Fishing.Net site, NZ's largest online fishing community.
A big cheers to all those from the site who have supported us at Epic Adventures this year.
Well done to popular identity Boulder who got 'Fisho of the Year', well deserved and cheers for your support once again in 2010 mate, bringing plenty of keen anglers down to fish with us. |

The latest issue of NZ Fishing Coast to Coast magazine is a cracker, make sure you get your Christmas issue which is on the shelves now. There are quite a few shots from on board over the last few months and a reflection on some pretty special fishing. There are also details of Milan's new Bounty Hunter Tournament in the first weekend of July next year which we'd like to have a couple of teams in. Check it out. |

There aren't many spots left on our boats for summer.....think surface kingi action, heaps of inshore spots firing on the kingi front and if its your thing..... Marlin, Tuna, big Albacore out wide.......sounds like fun aye....
Check out calendar for available spots on Epic and Sanity and let us know if you want some dates saved.
If you're looking at coming from abroad for an extended fishing holiday chasing kingfish and snapper then get in touch and we can save some dates for autumn, winter or spring 2011.
THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE WHO HAS HELPED MAKE THIS YEAR AN EPIC ONE!
All the best
Carl, Tobez and Belinda
