In 2011 we installed a new Furuno Navnet with Airmar T258 1kW Transducer on our new Senator 750HT. After eight months of using this technology day in day out we can safely say that the Navnet is a fish producing weapon!

On this page we thought we'd share some cool screen shots to show you some of the cool things you can do with this awesome piece of fishing finding equipment!
One thing which constantly blows people away on our charters is that we can often see the livebait being dropped pretty much into the mouth of kingfish!
Below is a cool shot showing very thick bait and kingfish sign between 50 and 60m. You can see our livebait (that is a sinker just above the bait, both dropping down diagonally) being dropped towards the school. Once the bait is set slightly above the school (kingfish are usually silhouette feeders)_ you can clearly see individual kingfish rising to check out the bait. As a kingfish hooks up and peels some line off the sign scatters and goes deeper, we were on!!

The Navnet is a real weapon come gamefishing season!
You will notice on the plotter screen below the track lines are a mixture of colours. One of the cool thing with the Furuno Navnet is you can set your trackline to change colour everytime you get a rise or fall in SST. The two shots below are from game season where spotting very evident temperature breaks, together with bait led to some success on the marlin front, this up at the Hook, something like 70 marlin hooked this day between the 100 or so boats that converged on the action - and we hooked 5 of them

Again the shot below shows some mean temperature breaks and bait showing, we went back the next day and nabbed a double a striped marlin and a blue marlin from less than an hours trolling, and the morning after that one from 5 minutes trolling.....

On most of these pics you'll see a long track of solid colour (we trolled up from the bottom of the school), being consistent water temp ...........then an area where there a lot of upwellings and lots of temp breaks (top of the screen) - where the bait will be and the marlin with them

When the plotter screen is active you can use the rotor key to select tide graphs. This will show you the exact part of the tide you are in. Typically a very hot bite will come at a % of the height of the tide that day. You want to make sure that you are in the right spot at that time.

The above fish and a hot bite where all four anglers were continually bent over on fish came here.....and it was like that every day for the week either side.....

We'll keep adding more pics and cool things you can do with your Furuno Navnet over the next few months
