Jason Gauci Epic Kingfish Trip - Nov 2011
Report from Carl
Jason's been a weeee bit excited about this trip, emailing every week, he was chomping at the bit to smash over some NZ kingfish!! The boys had three good looking days of weather at the start of their week in Tairua so an all out assaultt on the kingfish was planned. "50 kings and I'll let you go home....."
Richo gets the ball rolling on his Trini....

Glen with his first NZ kingfish

Didn't take too many of these before the numbers started getting up there. One smoker kept each the rest for the week all released

Jas stoked with his first

The boys finishing with a triple of kings at the G Spot to put them on 51 for the day

The next morning and -200 odd yakkas in the tank, Lord Echo cranked to the max on the Fusion stereo, 4 anglers v'd up and ready for some madness .......

Glen the kingfish whisperer was cracking into some solid fish

Triple time!!

Go Richo!!

BOOOM - Glen's Stella 20000FA howled and his Venom bent over and he was into a horse of a fish ......the Senator screaming back at the rate of knots, this was one hell of a fight...pulled the digi scales down to 26k

No stopping him it was back into a double with Matty

Jas with his Donkey!! 23kg on the scales

Quickly followed by another 20kegger - an insane day!!

Snapper hoofing the livies too

Glen's Venom getting gent - awesome conditions!

With the water temps getting up the Mako's have come to play.....this one destined for the boys sashimi

Late in the day, close to 50 kings released and the nice big tanks still got plenty of bait....

Richo adds another to the tally

Glen bent again....

Jas with another hard fighting Aldies king and glorious conditions to be doing it in - Jas ended up with a solid 20 kingfish released for the day - an Epic effort earning him an Epic T shirt!

A few baits to spare today, so decky Tony employs a new technique we're calling the Epic Baitball.....

50 kings again today and the boys sat on 101 at the end of day two.
The kingfish were a bit more lethargic the next morning. Mr Positivity Glen had a bet with the rest of the crew he could catch a kingfish on a dead makka .......BOOM......the Stella FA howled again, plenty of madness ensued as we dealt to two other fish hooked at the same time and the fattest fish of the season popped up next to the boat......the arms went wobbly and a horse got pulled over the rail - stuff Glen!!

And another.....

Matt deals to a nice fish at the Par Five.....3 days 121 kingfish to 32kg - just wicked fishing!
