Snapper Run and More Big Kings!
Report from Capt Tobez
Bit of a mixed crew for the next charter, Sascha from germany, Robert and James from Korea and Mike from Full On Fishing come to see what they are made of. Sascha tells me he hs been going to the gym for 3 moths just for this trip and this fitness stands out.
James gets to grips with hoodlums...u wont find those in korea mate

Sascha gets a reall work out with this fish - it just pulled and pulled..great effort!

I think James has tongue issues..a nice fish tho bro

Mike is testing some potential products to add to the line up, Tica's Talisman gets a bit of a work out when a free swimmer gets gobbled up

Robert had had a few vino's the night before and was a bit under the weather - he fronted up with this nice fish.

James had a minor issue with a new rod...ooops

It was a team effort getting it up so i jumped in for a piccie

Sascha then got into gear - very nice fish to the Tuff Tackle and the Talon

Mike was a little sore but still managed to get a few fish to the boat

Sascha gets a real pretty snapp to take home

Lee had bought a DIY soft plastic kit off trade me and was keen to try them out - nice work deckie!

just like a bought one - but with secret herbs and spices!

Wade and his gang booked the boat for two days - it was bloody hard fishing on the kingfish front with only one king for the day. There was a very very large shark freeking the kings and they shut up shop apart from two which were monstered whole..not very good...bu the snapper fishing was exceptional
Kyle gets a 7kg snapp on a livie

Bob gets some green loving

and after a bit of a kip up the front kyle lads a nice king

Westie gets a nice on in the bin

and Wade finally gets a look in...very hard fishing but the boys did real well.

Another regular fisho Craig comes back for more - this time his livies are getting pasted by big trevs...a first for me!

an unusual catch - a rat king with some sort of stick in his gill plate - diddnt stop the little blighter going troppo at the boat tho.

Fishing.net member Big Blue comes down from whangavegas for some action - after alot of dont strike bro, he gets a real good fish boat side

Another one bro?..ok then

Ash's first taste of green machines - he likes them alot!

Leeanne doesnt like the slime so a carefully placed towel helps her with her nice fish

Ben, his dad and brother inlaw were joined by the 'hoff' on his last day in NZ - the fish were finally starting to bite after the shark had buggered off.
The lucky Tui hat saw ben catching plenty all day

Something a little bit different, lee waits patiently for Greg to bring in this nice king on the Talon

Nice work Greg - theres alot to be said for gently gently

Ben gets back in the action

Dad Steve has hand issues and loved using the 15kg set up - again gently gently does it with alot of fish coming from this set up and only one real smoking, team effort for father and son...just awsome to watch.

Greg with a real ripper on the light line

We rounded off the day with a jigging session, 4 in quick sucession on pink jigs. Thorsten says goodbye to the aldi pins in style before he leaves. Shot 'Arnie'.
Thorsten had booked 12 trips with both carl and I and i have to say that it was more than a pleasure having you on the boat, you were funny, pragmatic and most of all a cruiser. You will be missed by all here at Epic. Tight lines in Madagasca German!

There was a solid 2-3m swell running and with 15 knots on top, with a little bit of cross wave action made for real washing machine styles. The boys braved the trip out to the pin with the usual white water coming over the front of sanity but those who know her know shes a plough and plough she did. The decky was absent and it was back to real work for me.
After a slow start and a few false drops Marc finally gets his first legal kingfish - he was stoked!

Matt was a real crusier - quite happy to watch but it all got too much, nice fish mate - pulled some mean string if i remember rightly

Marc looses his hat and lets his hair down

Simon kicks into gear on the PE5 - nice first first up brudda

Like a lot of livies the snapper were beating the kings to the tucker - Simon with a pretty aldi pins snapp

...and gets another, just a taste of the 12 or so they caught

bandanna in tow and marc likes the idea of snapper and beats simon to the punch

and fisnishes off with a nice king

Spartacus producer Rob Tapert, a regular on sanity and still charging on his goal of 100 before the end of august bough this fishing buddy Capt Dennis over from the great lakes. Den is a salmon/trout guide and runs a 24ft boat doing the same as what we do at Epic...small groups with personal service. He had never caught a king and was soon introduced to the 'rail'...ya dont get that on salmon aye mate! Dennis was good for the first 3 - this the best of them

A great shot of Rob with a primo snapper...6.5kg and going home for fishhead soup!

Dennis finally gets something a little bigger - still hurt tho aye buddy!

some fullas have special hats - we have lots of trevally, just another one caught on the softies

Next was a husband and wife day - we had some great guests from christchurch up to escape the horrible situation down there and were joined by Tony and Barbara, Barbara had never caught a king and braved the slop left over from some very quick wind changes - it was horrible to be fair but they area a tuff lot!

Tony gets a primo fish for the smoker

...and with a little bit of help from hubby... Barbara hits a homer...bloody good fish girl! well done

The weather had settled and we were greeted with a mean sunrise and mackerel by the thousand in the bay - a couple of small rats picked of some livies but diddnt cut the mustard. Im sure the big fish will be back in the bay soon rounding up the bait and giving the team some mean fights on the softie gear. Simon gets the ball rolling with this very very nice king

Hardcore Fishing Club president, Fishingrox (luke) gets his one keeper in the bin for the smoker

Irish Aiden, homeward bound for a stint nails this ripper on the PE5 -late teens...not bad irish!

Aaron gets on the board

a quick move to the Par5 after a slow period produced the goods on the first drop - luke with a sold 25kg fish and aaron with a beaut fish pushing 20

Nice fish aaron - they fight hard aye cuz!

and luke with a mid 20's pig

..and then the luck of the irish steps in - aiden blows the boys outa the park...HORSE of a fish!

the bite dies down and luke has the last laugh...top day lads

It was back to washing machine stylez again - and with a group from the mighty waikato. And were they mighty or what! It was the first time i have had 4 guys seasick - talk about a chain reaction!...tip for the wise...dont drink until the kings have had the chance to pull your arms off! Blair with a nice fish to start

Sick Guy tuffens up and grabs the rod it pays off

Pat gets on the board - inbetween burleying...

Zane gets his one for home in the bin and heads inside for a kip

Blair lands the fish of the day - a solid 20kg on the scales

Pat back for more...good on ya mate!

and blair nails the biggest one on the little 6000 TT and talon set
