Epic Kingfish - Great Run of Big Summer Kings
Brad Collett is good mates with regular Jimmy McKee and booked a family Epic trip to celebrate Kurts's 21st. Brad travelled up from the Hawkes Bay and the rest of the crew flew up to North Island for the weekend from the deep south.
The older boys dominated the fishing on day one Warren getting railed on the Amberjack Sniper and PE10 first drop of the day within seconds, a big audience of boats in the Tairua Pauanui stand Up comp around him. Pity the boys didn't enter as first king for the weekend would have won, over the 22kg mark, and there were bigger ones to come...

Father and son double

Birthday boy Kurt got his eye in and slayed a treble of nice fish in quick succession

Plenty more kings rolled through the day and some snapper mixed in as well

Brad slammed a 19 kegger

After a couple more dustings it was Patches turn next with a solid 20 k king from the Par 5

That man Warren with another cracker

Brad was having and awesome one

Patch took away the trip honours with a 26kg fishing on the second to last drop at the G spot

Nice treble (minus one which dusted them!)

Brad was amongst the last drop with another fine specimen, all these fish on Day two got released, the boys having kept one each at the previous day, ample

Another treble last drop (minus one from the quad which went pear shaped!!)

The boys vow to be back soon, we look forward to it fellas!
We've been putting some hours in on the beakies and have had a few more shots that haven't quite stuck

Ski's new custom built rod from YeeHaa

Regulars Ryan, James and Steve were back for some more Epic action, choice to have them back with a newbie in tow, who got railed amongst the morning bait collectors!!! Awesome fish in 10m of reef

Steve and Ryan got a wicked double of fish first drop,

solid 20k fish too

Ryan with a new PB

Its the hat

Mark brought a bunch of keen fellas up from Tauranga and they slayed some monsters at the G Spot

This one all of 30K to Mark, nice one Mark, you seem to be bumping up the PB every trip over the last year

Gotta luv it when the conditions are flat arse and the fish are biting hard

Chasing the good water

Scottish Phil is over for a few days chasing Marlin (her got our first marlin for the season last year), just couldn't help splashing out on a few Okuma Makaira, it got the first shot two hours in with a stripey hammering the Azure Gaza Skippy in short, a few minutes later we had a shot which pulled out 80m of line on the Azure Mirage in traffic light

Locked and loaded with the trusty Tiagras

Phil made do for know with some solid kings which tested his arms

All ready for an all out assault on the stickfaces next week aye Phil

Father and son Alex and Stephen joined the party 7 year old Alex braved the conditions and some big fish and did real well

Awesome guys!!

And another in close on a slow trolled bait at Pumpkin

Nick got a last minute call up and was stoked to get amongst the action

He was a fishy bugger, amongst most of the hook ups and a great way to finish his Coro holiday he reckons

Regular Mike brought out his young fellas out for a bash at the kings, with a couple of mates in tow

These boys had spent 3 years fishing there way here from England! One day and we had them there biggest kings yet!

Another one for the boys! looking a little heavy!

They all got into some stonkers! All the young fullahs taking home dinner to mum and dad!

Richard had bought the boys down to crack some new PBs.. Heres his one for the smoker!

Andrew with another beauty from some trying conditions!

A John Dory from 80mtrs! the boys were stoaked to score this for dinner

David with another nice one

Sam with the fish of the day... pushing the mid 20s it nearly weighed more than himself!
Next up was Grunt from FNet bringing along Jimmy Nail to test some new reels he is bringing in. Boulder was along for the ride and Railed

Nice eater no match for the boulder

More solid fish typical of this week at the G

Grunta amongst the action on the Canyon prototypes

Grunta was keen to tease a Striped Marlin up next and feed it a livebait on 10kg. We trolled and trolled , went south inthe Whanga Trench and then gapped it back up to the pins where the water was better and had a blind hit on a Azure Gaza skippy that would have been nice to have a hook in it as we never saw it again....thats marlin fishing....oh well back to the kings late in the day

Quick measure on a tagged one Grunta recaught

And one more for the man before we jetted

Jimmy was back for another crack the next day and the pins were loaded with bait and good kingz, this one a warm up on the Canyon

The next one railed Jimmy but was no match for Jimmys new reels all of 23kegs, solid fish and more to come in that league

Gracey got his eye in with a solid one in the 20-'s

From a choice double

Some Jimmy loving

Reels were doing the job

We tried Gruntas new measure board out on the next one

F O D - nice one Gracey

A few more before we jetted to chase some more stripeys

Yet another shot, immy seeing this one come in from the side and hammering the Azure Mirage but again fairly fickle.....nice little patch of water where John from YeeHaa got their stripey yesterday
