Kingfish, Kingfish and More Kingfish - Aldies kingfish jigging going off.

Report from Carl

A solid couple of weeks at the Aldies, with the fish a great average size in late teens and early twenties, and plenty of these solid fish smashing jigs.  Any jig - as long as its blue! Enjoy da pics and commentary....!!

Hugh got two days of fishing in on his New Zealand holiday, we matched him up with some other guys each day, he scored some awesome conditions and mean fishing to boot

he was over the moon with his first jig caught NZ kingfish, on the JM120 and Zest curved slider

Time to blood his own rod and $5 jig!, Well and truly upsized on the next solid jig caught fish

Rishad fron Heartlland joined Hugh on day one and gets in on the action with a solid fish on the JM120

Then ups the ante with a solid 22kg fish on a livie

The Hearltand boys with the spoils of their epic fishing trip!

Alex Seretis and the boys from Brissie joined Hugh the next day, and the fish went off once again. After a crazy day on jigs the day prior, everything swung around to baits.  Mick gets his first taste of NZ kingfishing.  Leon gets his arms stretched

Hugh dials one up on the JigStar 450

Leon had a crazy afternoon amongst the action

And the size grew all through the day, Mick with a solid kingfish

This one pretty typical of solid late teens kingfish from a crazy bite on the Par 5

Dad Alex with another which got the arms stretched

Leon amongst the kingfish action once again

Hugh finishes his trip off with a 20k - choice one bro, see you back with a bunch of mates next year!

-----------

Spencer was back with another group from Transnet, Beth joined the lads and I warned them at the wharf that the only female on board always comes away with the biggest kingfish......first drift and Beth was RAILED.....Stella 20,000K dialled up and howling, MC Works buckled over and John holding on to her for dear life!!! She did well and the result was this prime 25kg model - awesome!!

The boys got an awesome line of string pullers but they couldn't quite match Beth....

John with a real solid 20k kingfish....but still second place aye John!

Spencer with a new PB - on ya mate!  See you next year

----------------

Time for some light tackle fun...Ian was back to land some kings on the very silly string.....8kg mono....mission accomplished with many of these sized fish through the day playing ball

It was a family fishing affair with son Richard in on the action

And another destined for Ian's smoker

-------------

More blue jig madness for Cory and mates...Blue spike

Blue spear

Plenty of tasty snaps this size round too

And another fishy chick nabs the one of the day!!

------------------------

Sidfishus and Mike555 are long time Epic customers and this time brought two newbies to get amongst some epic kingi action.  It was Si's birthday so they spent the weekend down at Hahei and got a Saturday session in on the kingfish. Wasn't long and the boys were into it, Mike warmed up on a bait

But then jigged hard on his Ocea Jigger and his Blue spear went off

And they got bigger - this a 19k fish on jig

And does it again - machine!!

The newbies got in on the action on the jigs too - the pink squid skirts working a treat

That man Mike in on the action again

Birthday boy Si got fish on the day though!!

And got into some nice fish in a late flurry to catch up to the other lads after a few dustings earlier in the day

Auw...one more drift skipper .......double trouble

And the birthday boy got the last say on the softie

-------------

Mike from Specialised Lighting concepts brought out mate Dan again and his mate Richard flew over from Australia for the day to join the action - dedication!

Richard warmed up on a few small ones then got this nice sized - very excited male kingi....

Dan is as fishy as all hell - every drop he was into them before anyone else....fishy fingers! Dan was all over them, this one a a brute sized king that got some Mako love

And another, this one of a line of scarred kings that seem to be around when they are feeding on squid

Put back to fight another day

----------------

Mike Bailey and the boys from Tauranga were keen for their first blast and the kings after their mate Justin was out earlier in the year with us.  They hit an awesome patch of squid munching kings

Ball rolling on this cookie cutter scarred fish

Mike did a striling effort stopping this monster king on the Jigging Master Blade jig on the JM 120 rod and Stella 8000 - a horse king marked as solo fish on the sounder and the jig nailed him

Double trouble - solid fish too!!

A mean bite on the livies in the afternoon, this one a nice 20K specimen

Another beast

The JM blade jig still running hot at the end of the day - choice!
