Pre-Xmas Kingfish Action
Report from Carl
With the water heating up and marlin and tuna season just around the corner, Tony, Kevin our mechanic and I packed up all the game rods and shot out wide for a look and a marlin shake down pre-season. Between the three of us we had enough lures for 100 boats...
Kev with a nice albert

Water is getting bluer everyday and as I write this we have some very blue in hard to the back of the Aldies and first sightings of marlin

Ready for battle!

John from YeeHaa brought out regulars Lizzie, George, Mike and Victor for a blast on the kings, as usual Lizzie got the best king and snap of the day....

Squid run kingfish

Nice snap for Lizzie

JP loving our JM120

Nice jig caught kingi for JP

Victor with a nice kingfish on Broken Arrow jig

And another for the big man

Mike slays one on the livebait

Paul from Blue Water Motel was out again, bringing along Andrew from Taupo Trout Guide.com and we had two casuals to join the trip
Simon got into the action first with a very healthy kingfish

Paul was strictly fishing with jigs only!! Staunch lure fishermen this man, he slayed plenty on the JM 120 spin

Simon with another nice fish

Paul was bent all through the afternoon

Simon with another on the big Power Jig

Laurence nails a solid fish to wrap up a choice day.

Next up was a corporate trip, with both boats out of Whiti, the boys from System Projects in Hamilton. A nice king on the light gear was a cool start amongst the bait

Rod the boss was into a solid fish as soon as we got to Cuvier

Mark with another beaut king

BOOM, fish of the trip

Simon with a sweet one to wrap up a great sess at Cuvier

Shaun and Ben were back for some more Epic action, bringing with them two newbies, one of which turns out I used to work with, small world!
Grunta was up first with his first king

Ben was into it with a real nice one for the young fella - just a standard day at the office for Ben showing up his fishing buddies by the sounds!

A bit further south at the G Spot , Simeon got RAILED on Lucky Red ....BOOM nice fish good to see you again bro

Grunta perked up after a rough day and took the 120 for a spin - nice jig caught kingi from the G Spot

Shaun christened his new MC Works spin on a nice king to wrap up a cool day

---------------
Wayno and Graham were back with two newbies in tow....they'd talked up how hard the kingis pulled but the guys were still pretty shellshocked when the action hit!!!

These two warm up size

Then the 20's hit - Wayne with a 21 - he always seems to come away with a primo sized fish every trip

The new JM power arm has been a great addition to the Stella 20K, loads of cranking power

Wayno with another fat fish

Fish of the day which had the braid digging into Lucky red's foregrip - a first! mega 26kg fish

It was back off to the avo bite at the G Spot to wrap things up - the fatties kept on bitting there

Nice double

To good to go home!

And another!

Best we have another drop - time to get the Blue rose out Wayne!

Top way to finish the day! Cheers fellas

Next day out the blue water was pushed right in close and the kings I think a bit tentative on the bite, those that did were stacked full of juvenile Rays Bream in their stomach so chances are a lot of the mackeral munching kings have gone inshore It was an all Aussie day, with the two Aussie boys dominating the kiwis....
Phil with a nice one for the Christmas BBQ

And another at the G spot

Jas with his first ever NZ kingfish, a cracker on the MC Works, check out the rock hard stomach on the kingfish, packed full of rays bream

And another nice fish for Jas before we headed home for a Xmas break!!

Time to get the Xmas BBQ fired up,,, mmmm, some paua (abalone) fritters with panko and macadamia crumb
