Epic Adventures Tairua Fishing Charter Sept 4 2009

We've fished the last days of winter and the first days of spring over the last week, and had a mixed bag.  You can tell the kingis are starting to come on the chew again as some of the days were wild with big hits from both XOS kings and screaming runs from XOS snapper too! You can notice the difference in the days, more sunlight and that is sparking up the fishing. But it is ON one day, off the next. We also had guests from the US over for the third time, they got into some good kings to 20kg(photos to be added once they get home) and we organised their trip through Vanuatu on the way over (where they caught marlin, sailfish, yellowfin, wahoo, mahimahi!), plus a bit of time at our local Scallop Festival). Yep it was a big week for all involved...... !!!

A few photos from the week that was....

Walts puts his new Offshore JIgging Rod to the test on a nice king

A nice one for the Icey Tek

His Mrs Tarns beats him with a cracker of a fish (on Walts rod no less!!) that Offshore rod was getting all the action

And Walts guides one of the newbies through the fight on the JM300 and OJ

First ever king

This was Lance's first time jigging and his new Xzoga spinning rod with Daiwa Sealine was the hot rod and reel on this day, Lance was hooking into the fish one after the other

Nice kingfish to start the day off with!!

His mate Mick with a 20kg model.  This was Mick's third fishing trip out with us and he was happy with his new PB kingi!!!  Caught on his new Accurate reel and Kilwell jig rod, 400gm Pink Spear

This was Brett Meyer's first time jigging and he got a very solid fish for his first time out - 16kg's of Aldermen Island Kingfish!!!  Caught on the Ocea Jigger and JM300, Blue Spear jig

That Xzoga was bent over again......

And again!!!!  Note the drag being dialled up!!!

A real fat fish of about 14kg being released in the water - Kaiten orange jig

'

Plenty of these fiesty smaller ones out there too....bout 10kg

A bit of softbaiting to finish up...they started like this (Gulp New Penny 5" Jerk Shad)

And finished like this (3" swimming mullet - Gulp Camo) - very nice snapper in the shallows!!!!!

A few more photos to come once Lonnie and Billy get back home to Hong Kong and the US and they send us some of their piccies!!
