Sydney Angler Kingfish Jigging Trip Oct 2011
Report from Carl
Paul (3rd trip), Darrell (5th trip), and Allen (2nd trip) were back with newbie Martin, for some more NZ kingfish jigging action. They had one of the worst forecasts I've seen for a week long trip but thankfully the forecast improved just before they arrived. The first day was canned but we woke up on Tuesday morning to find a bit of a window, very very messy seas but the boys were up for it, we were going fishing!!!! It was off to Cuvier. Good thing I had decky Tony with me as swith the conditions needed all the help I could get!
Allen is one of the fishiest buggers I have seen hooking up in front of everyone elses noses, he set the scene for the trip first drop, bail up just closed and bang!

Martin nails his first NZ king and stoked!

That man Allen going for it on the MC Works, conditions were average!

Darrell nails a nice one on the jig

That man in action again.

Paul gets fish of the day a solid Cuvier king on his Synit grey ghost and jig

Allen finished off with a couple of solid 18kg fish

Choice one mate, time to go get dry!!

Day two and we loaded the bait tanks, our new custom softbait rods from YeeHaa working a treat

it was back to Cuvier, conditions were mint this time, average fish size was down but quadruples of fish all through the day

NIce one PaulJ!

Martin tests one of our new custom softbait rods out on a Cuvier king

As does Paul, they taste pretty good a!

Allen was nailing them left right and centre!

Darrell with a nice one on a Zest curved slider in chartreuse

With the boys nailing around 50 odd fish it was time for one last one before we headed to the Mercs for a cray and scally dive, Paul did the honours on the jig and his Synit Grey Ghost

Nice fish bro

Time for a dive at Great Merc - dinner! Scallies are thick and had to wade through crays still in berry and soft shell to get a couple of nice ones for the table

Fat as too....

Back home and it was time for a feed with the boys, decky Tony had been home and got a kilo of whitebait from the Waikato river in between days on the water to share with the boys.......whitebait...mmmmm

Scallies....yum

Scallops topped with whitebait, even better!

Ditto to crayfish on toast topped with whitebait!

Day three and final day it was off to the Aldies to look for some solid fish. Very aberage forecast but the boys were up for it. That man again into the first!

As soon as one fish was on, even more would pile in, Paul with one on the Broken Arrow

Darrell nails a nice one on his JM500

Martin with a solid Aldies horse

More doubles

Allen with fish of the day - solid 25kg kingfish on the MC Works Glass

Darrell with another nice fish

With all the other boys hooked up, Allen snuck over a downrigger shop jig on Marty's T Curve 200 spin, the Stella howled as he was on a cracker!!

BOOOM - a quinella for Allen of mid 20k fish - an awesome brute of a fish on a 200 weight rod!!

Paul doing the damage again, insane bite today!

Bite time!

More doubles as the wind picked up

And more.....

Ohhhh, that man again! Allen with another fat fish on the MC Works

Finishing a triple of mid 20k fish for that man

Martys sneaks one last one in

Allen didn't stop....

Last double for the day before it was time to go back to the Sydney kings.....see ya next year boys!
