VARIOUS KINGI DAY TRIPS ON SANITY 15 - 27 MARCH 2011

The wind had finally blown out and it was such a pleasure having nice calm days again. The mackerel where thick in the bay and the boys filled up the tank within minutes. Alot of large kahawai have been taking the live baits destined for kingfish and released to fight another day with the odd smaller kingfish getting hooked on the sabikis making for great warm up to the days fishing. The sea was flat, Ryan and his mates were amped and the trip to the pin was just awsome, glassy calm, just how sanity likes it.

Richard was the first to get into the action on the live baits. A very respectable aldi king

Sam the half back gets a taste and realises how hard these fish pull.

Nice double to Sam and Mike

Sam gets another which is set free to fight another day

It never stops amazing me how fish can get emotion out people..rich thanks tangaroa for the oppourtunity on this nice king

The boys were having a blinder with nearly every bait getting smashed, with such hot action the jigs get filed...live bait is where its at for Ryan and he grabs one for his family

A classic shot of a sammy holding on for dear life

Mikey had been talking about catching a big snapper all day, he had a personal best kingfish and wanted the magic 20lb snapper to make his day perfect - not quite 20 but getting closer, a new personal best snapper for him

The following day i was joined by John and Scotty. John was on holiday from New Caledonia and wanted just to catch one kingfish. He got more than one!! and was very very happy with his day. Regular fisho Scotty was back with a target to reach.

This mid teens fish for John made him a very happy man

Scotty gets his target - 22kgs of prime king

..and another big king in the late teens

Adam the gadget guru starts proceeding on the bay while catching maccies. It took a free swimmming livebait on the Van Stall stick bait rod. A great picture in the morning sun.

Fishing.net member Aran aka Rank Amateur grabs this nice mid teen king

and makes it two in a row.

Gaz cathes the fish of the day...a beauty

Another fantastic forecast and another top day. Vaughn ahd only ever caught rats and his first fish sure put up a great fight

Nce fish Paula, well done

Marc was having a blinder...another top fish

Vaughn nails a beauty...very cool

Paula was determind to get this fish up and she did so well...very sore arms afterwards

The wind picked up in the avo but the fish kept on chewing - top fish vince!

Vaughn was back with his dad and mates who were over from S.A and wanted to sample some kingi power! the average age of these fine gentlemen was 70! You wouldnt have known it when they first hooked up tho...just shows your never to old to do an epic charter. A slower start to the morning with a line of rats, and soon the bigger fish moved onto the reef and 82yr old Ron brings up a hard fighting king on the new Amber Jack Sniper for the JM stable.

Sam was doing a great job on the other side of the boat - a dusting and then this beauty

Tom was very happy with his fish

Superb fish for Ron..beautiful specimen

A move to another reef further south the next day payed off in spades, Slapper and his mates were demons on some very nice fish.

Jono gets the ball rolling in the morning

the Talon and sniper6000 being used - good posture by jono...no chance of a pointload.

...and good skill by Jono pays off...reel now well tested

Im pretty sure i had more doubles today than anyother trip...both good fish! Dennis doing the deed on the other side of the boat

Slapper loves the camera...great shot mate!

Jono gets another late teens king

Dennis a happy man with slapper working on the Jigstar450 in the background

The Amberjack Sniper getting a strech...this 300-600g rod does the business on alot of fish

Awsome Dennis...top fish
