MONTHLY FISHING REPORTS

Coromandel Fishing Report May 2019:

The last month the fishing has been great!
The majority of the fishing that the Coromandel-based boats have been doing has been in the shallows, in close around the islands to the north and south. This is good as it offers something different and the quality of the fish has been amazing!

There have been multiple fish over the 20kg mark with a nice intense fight in less than 20m of water.

The bait in the bay has been good with it not taking too long at all to grab a tank full of the Kingfish lollipops.

It has also been nice to catch the odd Kingfish in among the schools making for an awesome start to the days fishing!

The Snapper have also been around in good numbers, not taking long to grab a nice feed of fat snaps to take home which is a good way to end an awesome day fishing!

Bay of Islands Fishing report:

Well here we are in May, the days are shorter and the temperatures are certainly cooler here in the Bay of Islands.

But the fish are still here. Along with Koro King, has been catching some nice fat snapper, this has been the feedback from all the local skippers.

Kahawai, trevally, and john dory are also tasty bycatch. The bait schools, although elusive at times, have kept the king’s active around the Bay. So if you’re in the area guys, don’t be shy, grab a seat with Epic and Koro King and come enjoy our beautiful home.

The Half-day snapper trips that we run out of Russell and Paihia have proven to be popular with the large numbers of tourists passing through the area. If you are short on time and want to get your fishing fix on it’s a good quick option!.
