The fishing across the upper North Island has been EPIC. The Sharks have largely stayed away, the kingfish have been feeding up hard and smashing our baits most days. Skippers have been mixing it up with plenty of slow trolling livies to our usual dropper rigs, all have been doing the business. Mercury bay off Whitianga has been full of baitfish and this has allowed the crews to get out into the action early. We are still seeing plenty of hooks ups in the bait grounds on the light gear which is keeping everyone on their toes! The water is warmer and there have been plenty of pelagics seen and knocking around, Capt Chase on EPIC had a crack on his day off and they landed this awesome marlin. Had to share it with you!
The weather has been pretty awesome with weeks of settled weather lately, for some though the seas or winds have meant cancellations which happens with fishing… hope you can come back and smash some kings with us next time!
